About
Nevada allows abortion for any reason or no reason up to six months, but requires a licensed physician. After six months, for the life or health of the mother, abortion remains available but must be done by a licensed physician in a licensed hospital. This is to protect the mother (abortion becomes more risky as the pregnancy progresses) and to provide humane, life saving care for a baby born alive in an abortion. This can’t be changed by a legislator or governmental official — only a vote of the people can change Nevada law on abortion.
Now, we face a vote of the people to amend our constitution to provide an unlimited right to abortion to all individuals. Question 6 will eliminate the doctor requirement, opening up abortion practice to nurses, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and more. Question 6 will limit the regulation of clinics to maintain safe and sanitary conditions. Question 6 will permanently eliminate parental involvement in their underage daughter’s decision to get an abortion. Question 6 will eliminate the bright line definition of fetal viability currently at 6 months and leave the determination up to the abortion practitioner. Question 6 is vague which means judges — not voters — will decide.
Voting YES on Question 6 is a vote for abortion up-to-birth by non-doctors in unregulated locations — no parental involvement.
Risky for women, dangerous for young girls, deadly for the almost-born.
Voting NO means the current law does not change.
