WHAT IS ABORTION
Abortion is the willful destruction of a living preborn baby in the womb. Abortion is not miscarriage care or ectopic pregnancy treatment, and it shouldn’t be birth control.
CURRENT ABORTION LAW
Nevada allows abortion up to six months for any reason or no reason, but it must be performed by a licensed physician. After six months, if a mother’s life or health (health is a broad loophole that encompasses physical, mental, and financial health), an abortion is available at a licensed hospital with a licensed physician. (NRS442.250) (Nevadans voted in 1990 to approve this law in a referendum, meaning it must go back to the ballot for any change). So, this law can’t be changed by a legislator, a governor, or a US Senator, regardless of what the abortion industry and their paid spokespeople say. Only a vote of the people through a general ballot can change this law to be less extreme OR more extreme.
Question 6 seeks to change this law through a vote of the people by amending the Nevada Constitution to make abortion a fundamental right. It is poorly written and vague. It will allow third-trimester abortions for any reason on healthy moms with healthy babies. Abortions will be performed by non-doctors in unregulated and unsanitary locations. Question 6 will remove the ability to require parental notification or consent prior to an underage girls seeking an abortion leaving children vulnerable to predators.
